Materials

1 A4 sheet JS Stardream card - I used Mars
1 A4 sheet JS Gold mirri card
1 A4 sheet JS Gentle Gloss photo paper
1 A4 sheet 120gsm copy paper
1 A4 sheet JS thick acetate
Small beads/hearts for shaking
Roll of 2mm foam tape for shaker
Sticky Stuff - (I used double sided tape, red liner tape and foam pads)
JS - In Other Words CD
Optional - Peel-offs, to trim corners and round hearts

Step One

Using Gentle Gloss photo paper, print out both heart toppers from the Quotes section. (A in picture)

Using 120gsm copy paper, print out the matching backing paper. (B in picture) (Thinner copy paper may cause the hearts to be too floppy).

Step Two

Cut a piece of backing paper 18cms x 18cms.

Fold into quarters with the wrong side to the outside. "A" marks the centre point. (See picture)

Step Three

With point "A" at the bottom of the folded square, fold the square in half vertically to create a triangle. Point "B" to point "C". (See picture)

Step Four

With point "A" of the triangle at the bottom, and starting at the left-hand side edge, draw half-a-heart. The side of the heart extends beyond the triangle as shown by the dotted line and arrows.

Cut out the heart as shown by the green line. The area (approx 3cms) between the two arrows is not cut.

(See picture)

It helps to practise drawing and cutting the heart shape on a piece of blank copy paper first.

Step Five

Open out the heart and decorate or trim with narrow "bendy" peel-offs.

Fold a piece of Stardream card to make an A5 card. Open the card and position the hearts with the mountain fold of the top and bottom hearts in line with the centre-fold of the card.

Stick the hearts at left and right-hand sides onto the card. The top and bottom hearts with the mountain fold should not be stuck down. (See picture)

Decorate the inner corners of the card.

Step Six

Cut out the topper without the sentiment and cut away the white heart from the centre, leaving a white border and using the inner grey line as a guide. Cut the heart away in one piece and use it as a template.

Cut a piece of mirri card big enough to leave a border approximately 0.5cms wide, when the topper is placed on top of the mirri card.

Position the topper on top of the mirri card and using the cut out heart as a template, draw round and cut a heart out of the mirri card. (See picture)

Stick the topper on top of the mirri card and fix a narrow peel-off round the white heart border on the topper.

Step Seven

Cut a rectangular piece of acetate (approx 12cms x 14cms) big enough to cover the heart aperture and stick it to the reverse of the mirri card using red liner tape.

Step Eight

Cut out the remaining topper with sentiment and centre and stick to the front of the card.

Cut strips of foam tape approximately 0.5cms wide, sufficient to go round the perimeter of the heart. Use two thicknesses of foam tape, one on top of the other, to give sufficient depth for the shaker hearts/beads to move. Keep the foam strips inside the side edges of the topper and do not overlap the heart.

Place shaker beads inside the heart.

Stick foam pads to the top and bottom edges of the reverse of the mirri card.

Check the foam tape cannot be seen when the mirri card/topper is placed on top of it. Remove all the backing from the foam tape/pads and fix the front of the shaker on top of the foam tape.

This card will fit in a C5 envelope.
