Materials
To make the Advent Calendar, as shown in the instructions on the Nostalgia Collection Christmas CD:-
2 A4 sheets of card approx. 250gsm. (If your printer doesn't print on thicker card use either thin card or photo paper and stick to card.)
Sticky Stuff - Foam tape, glue stick and double sided tape.
To make the larger version as shown in the photograph you will need:-
1 or 2 A4 sheets of card approx 250gsm.
2 A3 sheets of card.
4 A4 sheets of Gentle Gloss photo paper.
3 A4 sheets of Gold Mirri card
2 A4 sheets of thin card.
6 A4 sheets 120gsm paper (either plain for printing on, or coloured).
Sticky stuff - Foam tape, glue stick and double sided tape.
JS Nostalgia Christmas CD.
Chocolate coins and peel off numbers.
Step One
These instructions are for the larger version
Landscape orientation, measure, mark and score the two sheets of A3 card as shown.
Step Two
Place one piece of card on top of the other so Section C is on top of Section B. Stick B and C together to form a tri-fold card. Each panel of the tri-fold card is A4 in size.
Step Three
From the Advent Calendar section of the Nostalgia Christmas CD, print out two copies of the thumbnail images and one copy of the matching large image.
I used 160gsm thin card to print the thumbnails and 190gsm JS Gentle Gloss photo paper for the large calendar image.
I mounted the large image onto card and cut the white markings on the image on three sides to create the door for opening.
Step Six
Remove the backing from the foam tape, and rub a glue stick on top of the foam tape. Line up the large calendar image on top of the thumbnails, and stick together.
Step Seven
Using 120gsm paper print out six backing papers from the CD. Alternatively use coloured paper.
Cut 24 pieces of paper 10.5cms x 10.5cms (see 1).
Fold in half diagonally (see 2).
Fold the bottom corners up so they are horizontal (see 3).
Fold down the front top flap and trim so the flap overhangs by approximately 1cm (see 4).
Tuck the flap inside and stick down. (See 5).
Cut out the remaining small thumbnails and stick one to the front of the pocket (see 6).
Optional - round the top corner of the pocket.
If you are adding numbers to the pockets make a note of the number corresponding to the thumbnail.
