Materials
1or 2 sheets A4 Card approx 250gsm (requirements will vary depending on whether you use plain card or print a backing paper design onto the card as I did).
1 x Sheet of JS Gentle Gloss Photo Paper.
Piece of gold Mirri /silk card approx 100mm x 120mm
1 Tassel.
JS Precious Petals CD
Sticky Stuff (I used double sided tape).
NB If you use a topper which when the mat is attached is wider than 95mm, you will need to adjust the measurements of your card accordingly.
Step One
If making a patterned card, print your backing paper onto a sheet of A4 cardstock. You will need to print two copies if your printer does not do edge to edge printing. I chose a daisy pattern from the backing papers on the Precious Petals CD.
Using landscape orientation and measuring from the left, measure and mark two sections 95mm wide and one section 15mm wide. This forms the body of the card. You are left with a section 92mm wide x 210mm and this will form your insert (slider).
Score the RED lines and cut the GREEN line. Move to one side the cut "C" slider section.
Measure and mark 40mm down from the top of the Card front/back and cut away (shown by GREEN dotted line) (See picture).
Step Two
Wrong side facing with the Card Front on the left, and working on the Card Front "Section A" mark a rectangle 55mm x 90mm. The rectangle should be positioned 20mm from the bottom edge of "Section A" and 20mm in from either side. Score the rectangle at 45mm and 90mm (shown by RED and BLUE line).
Cut the GREEN line on three sides and mountain fold the RED line and valley fold the BLUE line to create a flap.
If you wish to line the inside of the Card Back "Section B" (this will be seen when the slider is pulled up)print a backing sheet and line now.
Attach narrow double sided tape approx 7mm to the inside bottom edge of the Card back. Attach double sided tape to the REVERSE of the side flange which will join the card to form a sleeve for the slider. Do not remove the backing strip from the tape. (See picture).
Step Three
Wrong side of the Card Slider "C" facing, measure and mark two points 20mm up from the bottom of the slider and 20mm in from either side. Score the distance 52mm between these two points.
Cut 20mm upwards (shown by the GREEN line) from the bottom of slider to the score line. This creates a centre tab 52mm x 20mm. Bend the tab upwards and attach double sided tape, do not remove the backing.
Cut away 10mm from the two projections at the bottom of the slider (shown by the GREEN hatched lines). If required also cut away a small sliver of card from the sides (See picture). Shape the top of the slider.
Crease the score lines on the Card Front/Back.
Step Four
With right side facing position the slider on top of the inside of the Card Back. Fold the front of the card over the top of the slider, locating the bottom edge of the top flap on top of the slider tab. Remove the double sided tape and fix. (See picture).
Making sure the slider is clear of the 7mm double sided tape across the bottom of the card, release a corner of the tape, and fold the side flange over the top of the slider. Remove the double sided tape from the side flange and fix the front of the card to the back. Remove the remaining double sided tape from the bottom of the card and stick. Test the slider works.
