JS In Other Words CD

This card was made using one of the Quotes Toppers from the CD. This design could also be used with many other of the Quotes Toppers, both landscape and portrait.

Step One

Using 160gsm card print out one sheet of the Quotes topper (print an extra copy if you are decoupaging the flowers).

Cut out the topper without the quote, leaving a border of 5mm around the edge. Score the topper along the edge of the image and cut a notch out of each corner. Fold the score lines down at right angles, as if you were creating a box lid. (See picture)

Cut out the topper with a quote on, omitting the border.

Open the topper out flat, and cut out from the centre of the topper a section equivalent to the size of the quote on the second topper. When cutting out, follow the lines of the flowers but do not cut right to the edge of the topper, you need to leave an uncut border on the topper which will hide the foam tape. (See picture)

Cut a piece of thick acetate 2mm smaller in length and width than the size of the topper (ignore the 5mm border when measuring). Apply Colle photo glue to the reverse of the topper and stick the acetate to the underside of the topper. The acetate should sit inside the score lines.

Optional - Cut some of the roses from the extra sheet of toppers and decoupage onto the topper. I did one layer of decoupage on the largest roses and the rosebuds. (See picture)

Stick narrow Red Liner double sided tape to the underside of the 5mm border.

Step Two

Fold your base card in half, landscape orientation, centre and fix the topper with the quote on to the front of the card.

Stick 2mm foam tape around the edge of the image. I used two layers of foam tape one on top of the other, because I wanted height for the beads to roll freely. Stick double height foam pads underneath some of the roses where they won't be seen when the acetate /topper is placed on top. (See picture)

Use a dry paint brush and brush a small amount of talcum powder round the inside edge of the foam tape to stop the beads sticking to the side of the tape. Add your beads.

Step Three

Remove the backing strip from the foam tape (it may help if you do it bit by bit) and position the acetate topper on top of the foam. Check to make sure the 5mm border overhangs the foam tape before removing the entire backing strip.

Remove the backing strip from the Red Liner double sided tape, fold down the border and stick to the side of the foam tape, ensuring that you position the little corner tabs first. (See picture)

Attach double sided tape to the narrow ribbon and cover the stuck down border. (See picture)

Add a peel-off border.

Step Four

Print out an insert. I chose an insert from page one of the Picture Toppers (rectangular rose image).
